CROWDED TEETH
Crowded, crooked or overlapped teeth are a common complaint that can affect both adults and children. Although we all have the same number of teeth, we don’t all have the same size of jaw to accommodate them.
If your jaw is small or narrow, your teeth will still grow to a normal size, but can bunch together, overlap or be twisted. They may also be pushed further forward or back than they should be. People who have crowded baby teeth are likely to have the same problem as an adult, and as you grow older, crowded teeth can gradually become worse.
Even if your jaw is of average size, having very large adult teeth can cause crowding or crookedness. Children who habitually suck their thumb or a dummy are also prone to developing incorrectly positioned teeth, as are those who lose their baby teeth prematurely through dental decay.
