Invisalign is an orthodontic treatment to help you achieve straight teeth. Using a series of clear aligners, the align technology works by gently and gradually moving your natural teeth into their desired position.

You’ll need to wear your aligners for as long as possible during treatment, but you’ll be able to remove them for eating and cleaning your teeth.

Upon completion of treatment, you’ll need to wear a fixed retainer or nighttime retainers to prevent teeth from moving back to their original position.

About Teeth Bonding

Composite bonding, also known as cosmetic or dental bonding is a cosmetic treatment to enhance the shape and look of your teeth. It’s safely used on the natural tooth to repair damage to the tooth surface or change the colour of discoloured teeth.

Teeth bonding utilises a composite resin to address dental problems such as small chips, gaps or persistent stains. The tooth-coloured resin material will be colour-matched to your natural teeth, ensuring it blends seamlessly into your smile.

Treatment is painless; it involves applying a conditioning liquid and bonding material onto the natural tooth before it is shaped and set with a special curing light. The bonded tooth will be as durable as your natural teeth.

Is Treatment Painful?

Both treatments are pain-free since they require no drilling or invasive preparation procedures. Some patients experience temporary discomfort when starting with Invisalign as the teeth and gums adjust to wearing the aligners.

The length of your treatment time will vary depending on the complexity of your case. Invisalign can take between 6 and 18 months to complete, while cosmetic bonding can be completed in a single appointment.

Once you have completed the Invisalign treatment, we recommend whitening (included in the package) prior to having dental bonding. This ensures that cosmetic bonding blends seamlessly with your natural teeth.

Do I Have to Have Teeth Bonding?

No. The choice is entirely yours. If you complete the straightening and whitening treatments then decide you would prefer to opt out of teeth bonding, we can switch your plan to our cheaper teeth-straightening package so that you are not out of pocket.

Your orthodontist will be happy to revisit your smile design if you decide to pursue any other cosmetic dentistry treatments such as veneers.
