At Face Teeth Smile dentistry, we believe in supporting our patients long after their initial treatment is finished. That’s why we offer Smile Maintenance to extend the life of your composite bonding and keep it looking the very best it can.
During composite veneers maintenance at our Chalfont St Peter location, we’ll assess your smile and tackle any staining that’s built up. We carry out a comprehensive air polish using a mixture of polishing powder and water. This thoroughly cleans and brightens the composite material as well as the surrounding teeth. We’ll also check for any chipping or general wear and tear, and repair that.
For your convenience, we can schedule Smile Maintenance along with your regular check-up and carry out both in one session.

At Face Teeth Smile, as part of Smile Maintenance, we recommend regular whitening after bonding – the whiter the natural teeth, the whiter the composite bonding appears. Although the resin used in composite bonding can be stained by food, drink or cigarette smoke, it doesn’t change colour. Stains can be simply removed by polishing. As the material has some characteristics of glass, it reflects the colour of the natural tooth beneath or surrounding it.
No, during Smile Maintenance at our Chalfont St Peter practice, polishing is carried out expertly and gently to remove stains without removing composite material or changing your normal teeth smile.
Composite veneers maintenance treatment is not normally needed for porcelain veneers. Porcelain veneers aren’t made from the same material as the resin used during composite bonding. Porcelain is stronger, less prone to staining and doesn’t need this type of polishing to maintain normal smile teeth. Regular dental check-ups and hygiene sessions are all we recommend at Face Teeth Smile to keep your porcelain veneers looking their best.
If you’re a smoker or enjoy foods and drinks (like coffee or red wine) that lead to staining, you might find you need to book more than two sessions in a year for composite veneers maintenance with our Chalfont St Peter dental practice. Additional treatments may also be needed if you grind your teeth, which leads to more severe wear and tear.

This man has changed my life. Ever since I was young, I always hated my teeth. Dentists said that I would need surgery and braces for 2 years. As a teenager, the thought of wearing a brace never appealed to me. As the years went on and my teeth moved further, I decided to get it sorted. I went to various people to get quotes and was amazed at some prices given to me. However, Dr Raj treated a friend and was recommended. I decided to go and visit and get his opinion. The first thing I noticed was that Dr Raj was focused on the outcome. He was a perfectionist. Price came second. I decided to go for the invisalign, whitening and composite package and never looked back. If there were issues, he was there to sort. Dr Raj wasn't happy with one tooth moving millimeters, so decided to get more invisalign retainers made (free of charge unlike competitors). The whitening was easy and the bonding was a great experience as I witnessed a sculpture creating their masterpiece. I would recommend anyone who is contemplating sorting their teeth to see Dr Raj.
